“A great marriage is not when the perfect couple come together. It is when an imperfect couple learn to enjoy their their differences”-Anonymous
I received this book as a part of the book tour for Now and Forever for an honest opinion and review. Inconvenient Relations is book one in this Arranged Marriage Series by Simi K. Rao.
Author: Simi K. Rao
No of pages: 270
About the book:
The book is the story of Shaan Ahuja and Ruhi Sharma, two strangers who are tied together by the alliance of arranged marriage. Things take a strange turn when Shaan proclaims to Ruhi on their wedding night that he is in love with another women and they can get divorced. Ruhi is aghast but she comes to term with this and tells Shaan that they should be together for some months post which she can slowly break this news to her parents.
Thus starts the awkward journey of Ruhi and Shaan. As Shaan lives in LA they move here. Deep down somewhere Ruhi still has feelings for Shaan and wishes to lead a normal life as man and wife. On the other end things have soured between Shaan and his girlfriend and also he has these guilty pangs gnawing him for what he did to Ruhi. The book is a roller coaster ride of heartbreak, love, unrequited love, deception and friendship at the core. It shows the uniqueness of an arranged marriage.
The writing in the book is very straight forward and simple. The description is intimate and strong. The pace of the story is quite fast at the beginning but slows down from mid of the novel. Though the plot of the story is good one can guess some parts of it easily. In terms of characterization Shaan’s character is quite sketchy. We do see a facet of him but a large part of it is elusive. The story revolves more on Ruhi so you see a complete side of her. I did not like her at the beginning as I found her to be very submissive but the character derives strength and emerges strong as the story progresses. The author has done while in encapsulating the emotions and describing the intricacies and presents the awkward uniqueness of arranged marriage well. I feel romance lovers will definitely like this one.
